VINTAGE – WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

FAST FASHION IS DESTROYING THE EARTH

🌍 Vintage fashion saves the planet. Fast-fashion is one of the most earth-destroying sources of pollution. There’s already enough clothing on this earth to clothe everyone 3 times over, yet we continue to produce more. We wear them once, then throw away at break-neck speed. Buying vintage stops that process – because we’re using what’s already available instead of creating more garbage

♻️ Vintage is the ultimate recycling

“BUT IT’S EXPENSIVE”

💰It costs more because takes a lot of time and energy to source vintage items. But, what you’re getting is a commitment to save the earth, and a chance to wear something no one else has. We use carbon-offset shipping methods, which are more expensive than fast-plastic. Plus we pay great wages. We’re real people and by shopping @brillies.co, you’re directly supporting our workers

“I CAN FIND THAT ON ALIEXPRESS”

❌ 99.9 % of websites sites selling vintage are fake. We sell strictly authentic.

“HOW CAN I TELL IF IT’S REAL VINTAGE?”

1. Check the arms. If it’s stamped with “Korea”, “Taiwan” or “Hong Kong”, it’s vintage. Pre-90’s.

Manufacturing moved to China in the 90’s, so it’s a little trickier it it’s new-vintage

2. Stickers. Vintage stickers will have 3 little stars, or a light teal stripe down the middle.

3. Feel. Vintage materials are heavier and more durable. Vintage plastics feel stiffer and heavier than modern hyper-flexible plastics. Look for slightly whitened areas of plastic where oxidation may have occurred. In general, if it feels flimsy or just “new”, it probably is.
